These permablitzes are community organized and supported events which promote permaculture design, practice, and implementation throughout Central Texas. We are returning to the Colonna homestead just outside Austin city limits. The food forest on this site and plant propagation house were designed by Kirby Fry and installed 3 years ago during a permablitz. Come see how it has progressed, and learn from our mistakes and observations. Our intention is to bring our vision of a sustainable urban microfarm closer to fruition.
We will be installing berms and swales on contour; planting fruit trees, nitrogen fixing farmer’s trees, perennial and annual food and pollinator plants; installing irrigation; constructing raised beds for an easily accessible market garden; and integrating a duck paddock system into our design.
Please bring a water bottle, gloves, shovels, rakes, hoes, mattocks, wheelbarrows, etc if you have them.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days. Dinner will be provided for campers. BYOB.
Suggested $10 donation. This blitz will be funded by the Colonnas. Your donation will go towards future blitzes to help cover the costs of food, plants, cover crops, mulch and soil amendments. Let’s keep these events monetarily sustainable!
